The Pension Credit scheme was introduced on the 6th October
2003. The new scheme was introduced to ensure a minimum guaranteed
income for people of pensionable age. You can find full details of

The scheme was set up to:
- Reward people who have modest savings
- Significantly increase the number of pensioners who receive
additional financial help
