Land Ownership Enquiries

The vast majority of Council property is registered with the Land Registry and if the Council owns a piece of land or a building they can confirm ownership. However, if the Council does not own it, they will be unable to tell you who the owner is.

To find out if the Council owns a piece of land or property please contact us:

Email: ownership@bedford.gov.uk
Telephone: 01234 276859
Address: Property Services, Bedford Borough Council, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP

In your letter you must include a plan of the area you are asking about so that we can clearly identify the location and size of the land. Please include street names, landmarks and measurements.

The Council aim to respond to all enquiries within ten working days of receiving your enquiry.

If the Council do not own the land you are interested in, and the title to the land is registered, then Land Registry Online can provide information.

Alternatively you can ring the Peterborough office of the Land Registry on 0300 006 0411 or contact them at:-
