Client Transport Authorisation

Since 1st April 2015 applications for a Client Transport Authorisation are processed by the Licensing Team. 

A Client Transport Authorisation Badge is only available for employees of Operators included on the current Passenger Transport Services Framework : Approved Operators List

 

Right to Work in the UK

All applicants (new and renewals) are required to prove that they have the right to work in the UK. In order to do so you will need to provide correct and original documentation as specified by the Home Office.

Please refer to the full list of Home Office acceptable documents.

 

You are only eligible for a Client Transport Authorisation Badge if you have already passed/obtained the following;

For Passenger Assistants:

·                Current valid PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) **

·                Bedford Borough Council English and Competency Certificate

 

For PCV Drivers:

·                Current valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) Driver Qualification Card

·                Bedford Borough Council English and Competency Certificate

 

For Drivers operating under a Section 19 permit:

·                Current valid MiDAS Certificate

·                Bedford Borough Council English and Competency Certificate

 

For Private Hire Drivers Licensed by another Authority:

·                Current valid Private Hire Driver Licence

·                Bedford Borough Council English and Competency Certificate

 

** For details of PATS Providers in your area you should contact the Community Transport Association UK who maintain a central register of certified training providers by emailing training@ctauk.org

 

All applicants are required to pass an English Competency Test, which will include questions from the Driver & Passenger Assistant Code of Practice produced by Client Transport Services. Copies of this booklet are available from the Customer Services, Horne Lane, Bedford, MK40 1SJ.

 

Badges will expire at 3 years from issue or in line with PATS, MIDAS, DQC, DBS or Driving Licence expiry – whichever is the earliest.  If your badge expires before the end of its 3 year term in line with one or more of your supporting documents you can apply  for a Mid-Term Extension at no additional cost. Upon production for inspection to Licensing of the renewed documents a further badge will be issued valid for the remainder of the 3 year period, or until the next expiry of your documents, whichever is sooner.

Applicants are advised to consult the Council's Convictions & Character Policy prior to applying.

 

From 1st January 2016 the application charge is £81.90

 

Please note that no refund will be available once the processing of your application has begun.
