Community Champions

The Community Champions Scheme has been set up in 2016 to amalgamate a number of former volunteer opportunities into a well-rounded and exciting volunteering role. If you are interested in becoming more proactive within your local area, then the Community Champions Scheme will be right up your street (excuse the pun). Community Champions can be any age (under 16's must be accompanied by an adult) and can give as little or as much time as they want and can cover as many streets as they wish. We will encourage you to report issues that you come across and litter pick when you feel there is a need. All of which helps us in keeping our streets, clean, safe and green. Community Champions, will also be invited to attend community clean up events or proactive environmental events that the council schedule throughout the year.

We provide equipment such as litter pickers and our reporting procedures, so you will have all you need to get hands on within this role.

Event Champions

A number of events are held throughout the year by the Environment and Sustainable Communities Teams. Volunteers are welcomed to support these events by getting involved in planning, setting up, taking photographs, running stalls, serving refreshments, meet and greet, delivering flyers and leaflets and keeping the event clear of litter. If you are able to help at events please tick the relevant box on the registration form and the Events and Community Engagement Officer will get in touch to let you know about local events you could volunteer at.
