Graffiti Art project
Graffiti is often seen as unsightly and offensive.
Our Graffiti/Art project - is an ongoing project used
as and when the need arises.
Previous areas we have worked on include the under passes
connecting Wixams to Wilstead, Wixams to Elstow , Dog kennel
walk in Dunstable, & Kempston Youth Centre
Wixams to Wilstead underpass
& Wixams to Elstow underpass
The projects ran for one week for approximately 3hrs per day.
Young people were able to work with a professional street artist
who helped young people explore their artistic side and learn how
to produce legal street art to benefit the community.
Dog kennel walk
Working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council this
project is aimed to improve the look, feel and safety of the area
at Dog Kennel Walk. Graffiti is often seen as unsightly and is
often offensive; this has been the case along the foot path between
Dunstable & Houghton Regis. Approximately 150 meters of wall
had been defaced and along with the overgrown vegetation made the
area very dark and susceptible to crime.
Kempston youth centre is a large centre
offering an indoor basketball court, table tennis, a large kitchen,
numerous social spaces and a music recording studio.
This project aimed to clear up the unsightly graffiti on the
walls and alongside efforts from the council make the walk way
wider and more visible via CCTV to promote a much safer route for
people to use.
· Painting &
decorating – general tiding of the site internally.
· Art projects –
including graffiti art on the court walls.
It is hoped that further projects like these will continue
throughout Bedfordshire to improve the appearance of local
communities that have been affected by offensive and unsightly
graffiti. This allows young people to make a positive contribution
to their community whilst giving them some ownership of their
