Bedfordshire Police and Crime Panel

The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 has introduced significant changes in police governance and accountability.  The Act replaces the former Police Authorities with a directly elected Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for each Police area and also requires the establishment of a Police and Crime Panel (PCP) for each Police area whose role is to scrutinise and hold the Commissioner to account as a ‘critical friend’.

The following pages provide information about:

The Complaints Process

The Panel has agreed that all complaints about the conduct of the Police and Crime Commissioner or his Deputy will initially be dealt with by Bedford Borough Council’s Monitoring Officer (who is also the Panel’s Monitoring Officer).  Further information about how complaints will be dealt with is set out in the Panel’s Complaints Procedure.

Complaints about the conduct of the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner should be submitted via this website by completing the online form. An acknowledgement with details of the complaint will be sent via e-mail.
