Budget 2011 Consultation

Please note the consultation is now closed

Bedford Borough Council’s Executive agreed on 15 September a number of ‘in principle’ decisions to help achieve efficiency savings of £11.497M. The proposals were based on months of detailed work carried out by councillors and Council departments to identify different ways of working, rationalisation of our services and ‘remodelling’ the services we inherited from the County Council. These savings will allow the Council to set, as required by law, a balanced budget for 2011/12.

Bedford Borough Council was one of the first authorities in the country to put forward proposals for the 2011 budget. This was to allow the Council to consult with the Borough’s residents, staff, recognised trade unions and service users on the proposals. The consultation was designed to be open and full and asked for the views of our residents and other stakeholders on the proposals.

Over 200 responses were received to the consultation.  The responses were used to write reports that went to the Executive on 8th December.  The reports are available by following the link below.  Executive members were also supplied with an evidence file which contained all the consultation responses (and equality impact assessments) reproduced in full.
