Allhallows Toilets

Improvement works to the Allhallows Public Conveniences, are now complete. The toilets, which are accessible immediately adjacent to the multi-storey car park’s main access stairwell, located in Greenhill Street adjacent to the bus station, are now much improved in both their appearance and functionality.

Paul Pace, Head of Environment, at Bedford Borough Council, said: “It’s important that when individuals visit a public toilet, they feel they are in a safe and clean environment. Whether it’s public toilets, or the outstanding Embankment floral displays; we want to be proud of Bedford, so we can ensure residents and visitors to our town enjoy a positive and welcoming experience.”

Refurbishment work has resulted in the floor to the gents and ladies toilets being overlain with a hard-wearing easy clean resin flooring.

The laminate faced vanity unit in the ladies, which housed four stainless steel hand wash basins, have been replaced with a unit with a new proprietary ‘vandal resistant’ solid surface vanity top and inset bowls together with new non-concussive taps to limit water waste.

Both the gents and ladies toilets have been thoroughly cleaned to remove all engrained dirt and the ladies area redecorated using an anti-graffiti coating – which has also been applied to all existing walls, ceilings, timber doors, frames, architraves and linings.

The air ventilation system has also been repaired and is now in full working order.
