New battery collection scheme 'charges' ahead
During March, Bedford Borough Council introduced a new battery
collection service to 12,500 properties as part of ongoing efforts
to increase recycling rates.
The new scheme has had a positive start - after just 3 weeks of
collections the Council has collected over 220kg of batteries which
could otherwise have been sent to landfill.

In the meantime, residents who are awaiting the new scheme can
still make use of the collection facilities in the Town Hall and
Borough Hall reception areas, as well as Bedford’s Household Waste
and Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane. Remember to use reusable
batteries wherever possible.
