Developers to seek public opinion on proposals for Riverside North

Coplan Estates and Denne, the council’s appointed partners for the Bedford Riverside North site, will be holding a public consultation exercise on their initial proposals for this important riverside site.

The exhibition will be held in the Harpur Suite on Harpur Street on Wednesday the 11th of April between 12pm and 8pm, Thursday the 12th between 9am and 5pm and Friday the 13th between 9am and 5pm.

Colin McQueston, Director of Coplan Estates says, “Whilst we are at the initial stage of the process, we believe it is important to obtain the views of the people of Bedford for this high profile site”.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, added: “It is important that local residents are involved from the start in helping to create this exciting new development for Bedford, and this event gives a great opportunity at an early stage for people to have their say on what we want for Bedford from the scheme.

“To have this important regeneration taking place even in these tough times will be very exciting and I hope lots of people take the chance to help shape a superb new development for Bedford town centre on the riverside.”

Coplan Estates and Denne (part of the Leadbitter Group) were appointed in the summer of 2011 as development partners by Bedford Borough Council and the Development Agreement between the parties was exchanged in January 2012. The intention is to provide a much needed leisure destination to take full advantage of the Great River Ouse. Uses being considered include cinema, restaurants, hotel and high quality residential units.
