April Spring Clean 2013
Throughout April, a series of Spring Clean events, including
litter picks, parks conservation events and the first Rivercare
event of 2013 will be taking place across the Borough.
Lower schools are also getting in on the act with special
assemblies from Flynn the Bin Elf, the Council’s anti litter mascot
and hosting their own litter picks.
Most of the events are held on Saturday mornings between 10am-12
noon and a full list is available on the Council website: www.bedford.gov.uk/volunteering.
If you have any questions about any of the events, please use the
contact details below.
Councillor Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community
and Regulatory Services, said: “Our community litter picks and park
events improve our local communities and are always extremely well
“The series of events throughout this month includes a number of
litter picks and other events and I would encourage anyone
interested in helping out during April to check out the events on
the website and get involved.”
If your parish council, school, community group, uniformed group
or even a small group of neighbours want to host their own spring
clean event please get in touch with the Community Volunteering
Team who can support litter pick events by loaning equipment and
BedfordBID is kindly sponsoring the Spring Clean with a crème
egg for every volunteer who takes part in a litter pick or parks
event as a thank you.
