A CARERS FORUM – TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
Bedford Borough Council is going direct to
carers to ask whether they would benefit from a Carers Forum. The
Carers Together event will take place on
Tuesday 9th April, from 10am –
midday, at the Harpur Suite - as an
opportunity to gather opinion and discover what people would get
out of such a set up.
Bedford Borough Council and The Bedford
Borough Carers Partnership Board recognises, and values, the work
carried out by informal carers and wholly agrees that this group of
individuals are best placed to feed into any future plans.
Cllr Colleen Atkins, Executive
Member for Adults Services at Bedford Borough Council, said:
“A Carers' Forum could provide an opportunity for local carers to
meet with the people who make the decisions, policy, commissioning
that affect them and the people they care for and to help influence
relevant services. On the other hand, some carers may feel
that it’s an added pressure they would rather not participate in.
Whatever people think, we are very keen to find out their views and
to make sure we don’t miss an opportunity to give further support
to carers in their vital roles.”
The organisations who provide support and
services for carers will continue to represent the views of local
carers, whatever the outcome.
If you are a carer, and would like to attend
the event, please book your place by contacting Anona Hoyle, at
Bedford Borough Council, on 01234 718345, or
alternatively, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
