Bedford by The Sea

Tuesday 3rd August 2010

BEDFORD BY THE SEA’ RETURNS

Avast, me hearties ‘Bedford By The Sea’ sails into Bedford with a pirate theme this year. So don’t forget your buckets and spades. The event will provide four days of fun in the sun at Harpur Square, from Wednesday 11th – Saturday 14th August, join us for some seaside delights.

Further highlights of the event include Punch and Judy shows, workshops and face painting and the Jolly Roger.

The giant sandpit will also return for all to enjoy, whether you decide to build sand castles with the children, or prefer to sit back and relax with the sand between your toes.

Mr Punch always feels at home at ‘Bedford By The Sea’ and can be seen daily at 11.30, 12.45, 2.00 and 3.15. Each show is different, so be sure to watch them all.

All activities are free.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Bedford’s nearest beach is well over 70 miles away so we’ve brought the beach to Bedford. Every day features fun activities, from sandcastle building to face painting. We’re expecting a great holiday atmosphere and encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the summer sun”.
