Do You Have What it Takes?
Friday 6th August 2010
Bedfordshire’s Adoption and Fostering Service
will be on hand at Bedford Market, every Wednesday, during the
summer holidays, to talk to people in the community interested in
the prospect of becoming foster carers.
So whether you are decided on a future
as a foster carer, or this is a new idea and you’d
just like to find out more, the team can discuss the process with
you on a one-to-one basis, giving you all the information you need
to help with your decision.
Historically, the profile of foster care
was not high and people did not always consider whether they could
become involved. But today, in a world where everything is
more openly discussed and information is more accessible the
service has embraced this ethos by welcoming you to come along,
have a chat and find out more.
Cllr Anita Lewis, Portfolio Holder for
Children’s Services at Central Bedfordshire Council said: “The
Fostering and Adoption teams are extremely motivated and passionate
about what they do and will do all they can to make sure potential
Foster Carers and Adoptive parents are supported and informed as
much as possible.”
Councillor David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for
Children, Schools and Families at Bedford Borough Council said:
“Nationally there is a shortage of foster carers. Our established
carers are invaluable for so many local children. It is important
that we do all we can to recruit more in order to give local
children the best care possible.”
