Heritage Open Days

Bedford Heritage Open Days- This September!

From Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th September, you can explore heritage and history at ‘Heritage Open Days’ across Bedford Borough.

‘Heritage Open Days’ is England's biggest festival of history and culture involving over 40,000 volunteers. Every year over four days in September, thousands of events across the country invite you in to explore local treasures, see hidden places and try out new experiences.

Mayor Dave Hodgson said “These open days are a great opportunity to find out more about your local area, or to come and visit Bedford Borough and experience our heritage, with free talks, tours and events planned for this four day festival.”

A number of Bedford Borough Council’s local attractions are offering you the chance to find out more about the heritage and history of Bedford Borough through special talks, tours, guided walks and events, free of charge.

These events include tours of the Bedfordshire Archives, ‘Take Flight’ craft activities at Bedford Park, themed guided walks and burial registers open to view at Bedford Cemetery, and ‘I Never Knew That!’ guided walks around Bedford town centre.
