The Bedford Room

If you find you have had enough leftover turkey this Christmas and fancy a change of scene, bear in mind that you can visit the Bedford Room which is located in the Tourist Information Centre, to discover more about the Bedford’s rich and fascinating history. Perhaps you’ve spent all your money on festive gifts, and if so, it is also worth noting that the Bedford Room is free to enter.

The Bedford Room hosts a range of material to enable individuals to discover exactly what makes Bedford unique. Visitors can experience an audio guide depicting 1,000 year’s of Bedford’s history while at the same time viewing a mural of images to bring the experience to life.  The lively narration is available in two versions with one more suitable for adults and the other; for children.

The Tourist Information Office, leading on from The Bedford Room, also hosts shopping advice, guides as to where to eat, transport advice, and if you are planning to travel to London this holiday season - you can even pick up an Oyster card, at a total value of £18.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “The Bedford Room is a fascinating place to visit, and I would encourage everyone to enjoy this free facility in the heart of town.  What’s more, it’s a great place to take visiting friends or relatives at this time of year and show off our rich and varied history!”
