IN HONOUR OF NELSON MANDELA
As a sign of our nation’s respect for Nelson
Mandela following his death, the Union Jack flag at Borough Hall
will fly at half-mast until the start of next week.
Nelson Mandela visited Bedford on
7th April 2000, when he was warmly received by the
crowds who had gathered to welcome him.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson,
said: “We can all learn from this truly inspirational man. Bedford
is home to a number of cultures and ethnicities; together we
remember the world's most powerful symbol of reconciliation, hope
and progress, Nelson Mandela. We must ensure his legacy lives

day of Nelson Mandela’s funeral.
