A Bloomin' Good Logo
For the first time ever, Cauldwell and
Kingsbrook are entering the neighbourhood section of the Anglia in
Bloom Awards. To introduce the awards scheme, and get its residents
thinking green, a logo competition was launched in December 2009,
with the local Lower Schools invited to take part.
Local pupil, Abida (in Year 3), from
Shackleton Lower School, was chosen as the winner of the Cauldwell
and Kingsbrook logo design competition. Abida’s cheerful design was
picked, out of 84 entries, by the In Bloom Committee.
Andrew Gerard, Chair of the Cauldwell and
Kingsbrook Urban Community Council (UCC), who promoted the entry,
said: “We are delighted with the logo, and we are grateful to Abida
for all her hard work in designing such a bright and cheerful logo
to represent our entry into the In Bloom Awards.”
Two special assemblies are to be held on
Monday 8th February, to celebrate the winners and runners-up;
Shackleton Winners Assembly will be held at 11am, and Stephenson
Lower Schools will be held at 10am.
As her prize Abida wins an eco friendly
wind-up radio, and her design will be created into a logo to be
used on all Cauldwell and Kingsbrook in Bloom publicity, including:
banners, posters and at events.
All designs will be showcased at the official
launch of Cauldwell and Kingsbrook in Bloom, which takes place on
Saturday 27th February. The launch event starts with two litter
picks and an afternoon of activities including: seed planting, face
painting, badge making and light refreshments.
