Health & Wellbeing Roadshows
Bedford Borough Council and NHS Bedfordshire have co-produced a
series of roadshow events with the aim of improving the health and
wellbeing of local residents. The ‘Health and Wellbeing’
launch event will take place from 10 am - 3pm, on Friday
4th March, at the Addison Centre in Kempston.
Members of the public are invited to come along
and get information on local health and social care services and
equip themselves with the tools, motivation and inspiration to
develop a healthier lifestyle. On the day, a wide-range of advice
will be on offer from a variety of organisations.
Residents aged 40 to 74 will also be offered an
NHS health check, which helps to identify the risk of developing
heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Those
identified at higher risk will be offered support and advice on
reducing that risk.
Mayor Dave Hodgson, who will be opening the
event and the first to be offered a health check, said: “Bedford
Borough Council and NHS Bedfordshire will work together to improve
the health and wellbeing of all residents. We want to supply people
with the information needed for them to live as long and as healthy
a life as possible. These events will help us ensure residents
right across the Borough have the opportunity to access advice and
support on staying fit and healthy and preventing ill health right
on their doorstep.”
All the events are being part funded by
Government Office to help achieve set targets relating to areas of
health and social care deprivation.
Jackie Golding, Public Health Manager, NHS
Bedfordshire, said: "These events taking place throughout the
Borough will allow local people to take responsibility for their
own health by accessing advice and information that will enable
them to make informed lifestyle choices.”
