Weight Management Programme
Bedford Borough Council’s BeeZee Bodies is an
NHS Bedfordshire funded family involvement, weight management
programme. The course is aimed at children aged 7-15 years of
age and their families and it runs at Pilgrims Pre-Prep
School in Bedford.
Last week, 23 families from across the borough graduated, after
completing the 18 week BeeZee Bodies plan.
Cllr Colleen Atkins, Portfolio Holder for
Community Wellbeing at Bedford Borough Council, said: “One of the
Council’s wellbeing priorities is healthy weight for children and
adults. If you think that your child might be overweight and want
support in a fun, informative environment then BeeZee Bodies could
be for you and your family.
BeeZee Bodies is a life-changing programme.
Those that take part express a marked difference in their outlook
to their eating habits and exercise routines, and they highly
recommend the course to others. Feedback from one person stated
that the course introduces small changes that will, if people stick
to them, go on to make big differences.”
Participants gain tips on preparing healthy
take-aways, snack and lunchbox ideas with discussions on how to
serve suitable portions. Individuals also gain experience in
activities including pioneering, swimming, dodgeball and street
