TWO BEST-SELLING AUTHORS ARE SET TO VISIT THE BOROUGH

For Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender (LGBT) month, Bedford Central Library has booked two fabulous authors. ‘An Evening with Juno Dawson and James Wharton’ will take place on Wednesday 17 February, at 6.30pm, at Bedford Central Library.

Juno Dawson will be making an appearance along with James Wharton - who has been to visit Bedford Central Library before, and proved to be very popular. Juno Dawson has received press attention as being transgender and she’s also a best-selling teen author.

Cllr Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Councils said: “We are delighted to have secured these two hugely popular authors for this event. Bedford Central Library is renowned for providing interesting presentations which take place in an intimate setting and for a token fee!”

Juno Dawson, formerly known as James Dawson, is the multi award‐winning author of dark teen thrillers ‘Hollow Pike’, ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘Say Her Name’ and ‘Under My Skin’. In 2015, she released her first contemporary romance ‘All of the Above’. In 2016, she will author one of the World Book Day titles: ‘Spot the Difference’. Juno is a regular contributor to Attitude Magazine, Glamour Magazine and The Guardian and has contributed to news items on BBC Women’s Hour, Front Row, ITV News, Channel 5 News, This Morning and Newsnight, concerning sexuality, identity, literature and education.

James Wharton served in the Household Cavalry from 2003‐2013, both ceremonially in London and operationally in Iraq. Upon leaving the army, he became a freelance journalist and author. Today, he is also a communications expert working in financial services. A passionate campaigner focused on LGBT equality and the welfare of army veterans, he frequently writes for a number of publications including WINQ magazine, the Independent newspaper and The Times. James’ debut book ‘Out in the Army’ was published by Biteback in 2013.

Tickets are £1 each and are on sale now at Bedford Central Library and should be purchased in advance.
