Make a New Years Resolution to Help Tidy Bedford Borough!
Pride in Bedford’s first event of 2011 takes place on Saturday
The litter pick covers the Fenlake Meadows area and the team are
looking for as many volunteers as possible to come forward and make
a great start to keeping Bedford tidy in 2011.
The Pride in Bedford litter picks will be even greener this year
as well, with collected litter being sorted and recycled where
The Pride in Bedford team will be meeting at the Sea Cadet Unit
on Longholme Way at 10am. The litter pick is expected to last until
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Hundreds of
volunteers, both young and old, helped to tidy Bedford during 2010.
However, I am confident 2011 can be even better as we will now be
sorting all litter and recycling it wherever possible. So, even the
rubbish some people drop in our public places will be recycled
thanks to the hard work of volunteers.
“We are planning more tidy ups, bulb plantings and other
community events throughout the year to help bring communities
together in Bedford to improve the borough for us all.”
Volunteers are advised to wear sturdy shoes and suitable
clothing. Equipment will be provided.
As a thank you for attending, volunteers will be awarded a Big
Pride Point, which at certain levels can be exchanged for rewards
such as cinema tickets and swimming vouchers.
