'Green Man' Winter Warmer Event

Residents of Kempston are being encouraged to come forward with their ideas for a community garden at Addison Howard Park.

The ‘Green Man Event’ on Saturday 22nd January aims to bring local residents together and encourage the community to work with each other and come up with ideas and designs for the small plot of disused land in the park.

There will also be entertainment on offer with Morris dancing, storytelling, woodcarving demonstrations as well as mask and badge making.

The community garden scheme is being initiated by Bedford Borough Council in partnership with Project 229, Kempston in Bloom and Spurgeons. It is hoped this event will encourage more local residents to come forward, get involved and pledge to help look after the community garden in the future.

Councillor Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, will be attending and commented: “The Green Man event is an excellent way to kick-start the community taking ownership of what we hope will be an excellent community garden at Addison Howard Park.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, will also be attending. He added: “By working in partnership with local residents and organisations I am sure this garden can become something the whole community can be rightly proud of.”
