5 YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE AWARDED – PICTURE THAT!

Bedford Borough Council part-funded Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society (BDCPS) with a project which has led to five of its young people achieving an Open College Network (OCN) qualification in Fishing and Photography. The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, will be presenting these talented individuals with certificates in the Mayor’s Parlour, at 6pm, on Thursday 2nd February.

The young people spent five days of their Summer Activity Scheme engaging and achieving in the great outdoors at sites along the River Great Ouse in Bedford and Henlow Bridge Lakes.

What also helped lead to these young people to achieve this prestigious recognition was BDCPS’s work towards forming new partnerships with local organisations and a recent alliance with Angling for Success.

The Mayor of Bedford said: “I look forward to congratulating these five young people on achieving their well-deserved qualifications. I know that Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society, along with partners such as Angling for Success, do excellent work with local children and young people. This project is a great example of how they support those with particular needs to develop new skills and enjoy new and varied activities.

Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society is one of the charities chosen to benefit from the Mayor’s Charity in 2012, and I’m hopeful that lots of funds can be raised to support its tremendous work.”

The charity is always looking for ways to offer diverse and challenging activities for its young people all of whom have a disability, the additional benefits of vocational qualifications are an immense addition to these aims.

BDCPS have expressed they feel proud and privileged to be one of Mayor Dave’s chosen charities for 2012, and hope this will promote more exciting opportunities of this type in the future.
