Where is my bus?
Bus users in Bedford Borough can now find out exactly when their
bus will arrive – without even going outside!
Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) is now available on the
Bedford Borough Council website through a PC, laptop, tablet or
internet enabled smartphone.
RTPI uses GPS technology to accurately predict when the next
service will arrive at a specified bus stop. So, if it is cold and
wet outside or you want to know if you have time to do one more job
before you leave work, you can quickly check online and see when
your bus will arrive and save yourself time!
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “At a time when
many other local authorities are cutting bus services in their
communities we have been protecting and improving them, and this
new service is more good news for bus users.
“We have worked with local bus operators to significantly expand
Sunday and evening services as well as working with rural
communities to protect a strong network of rural bus services,
which many people rely on.
“Putting Real Time Passenger Information in the hands of local
bus users will make a real, positive difference and should make
catching the bus in Bedford Borough even more
convenient and attractive.”
The Real Time Passenger Information is available at
www.bedford.gov.uk/rtpi On this page is a map of Bedford Borough.
Users simply click on their bus stop to see the times of arrival
for the next few buses. QR codes will also be added to bus stops
and anyone with a smartphone and barcode scanner app can scan the
code and see the times for that stop on their phone.
The service will continue to be improved and further options
added in the future.
