Domestic Abuse

A NEW STRATEGY TACKLING DOMESTIC ABUSE

Bedford Borough Council has launched a consultation to seek peoples’ views on a draft Domestic Abuse Strategy 2017-20 which focuses on tackling and reducing incidents of Domestic Abuse.

Cllr Mohammad Yasin, Portfolio Holder for Adults’ Services, said: “We would like to gather as many views from as many people as possible including members of the public, victims, survivors and perpetrators of domestic abuse.  We need to work with everyone to reduce incidents of Domestic Abuse.”

The Council will work to build on aims and objectives contained within other relevant strategies, such as community safety and safeguarding to ensure a focussed and co-ordinated approach to tackling domestic abuse by Bedford Borough Council.

Cllr Yasin continued: “We want everyone in Bedford Borough to be kept safe from incidents of domestic abuse and violence and to have the opportunity to lead healthy and happy lives. This strategy will lead to an action plan and targets for dealing with the specific nature and effects of domestic abuse.”

The consultation will run up to Friday 17 February, to view this document visit www.bedford.gov.uk/da
