Get 'Stuck in The Mud' with The Play Rangers

                                                                                  Monday 26th July 2010

The Bedford Borough Council’s Play Rangers have a treat in store for the children of the area. They have been busy writing a new book that focuses on playground activities for children aged between 5 and 13 with emphasis on games that use little or no equipment. The book contains over 30 fun filled games which will keep kids active, promote playing together and most of all have fun.

The Play Resource Book is aimed at children, lunchtime assistants and teachers and includes old favourites such as ‘Dodgeball’, ‘Ladders’, ‘Stuck in the mud’ plus brand spanking new playground games such as ‘Monkey Football’ and ‘Yee Haaw!’.

To celebrate the launch of the book, Mayor of Bedford Borough Dave Hodgson joined children at Goldington Lower School on 14 July to take part in some games. The Mayor said: “It was great fun to join the children and take part in a number of games, and I was particularly impressed with the way the children led the activities themselves. The play resource book is a wonderful way to promote healthy, fun play activities, and it will help teachers and children to get active and play constructively together in a safe environment.”

The books cost £5 each and are available locally in the Tourist Information Shop, Oasis Pool or direct from the Communities team. Simply call 01234 227254 or email playrangers@bedford.gov.uk to obtain a copy.
