Monday 12th July 2010

2010 BEDFORD RIVER FESTIVAL – MORE WAYS THAN EVER TO JOIN THE FUN

With 300,000 or more people expected at the 2010 Bedford River Festival on the 17th and 18th of July, Bedford Borough Council is delighted to announce they are making it easier than ever to join the fun on the Embankment and Russell Park.

Secure cycle parking, extra bus and train services and a late night park and ride service from Elstow are all being provided to make it easy for everyone and their families to be part of the region’s biggest free event.

Town centre multi-storey car parks will also be open longer and cost just £1 all day on Sunday.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “The River Festival has always been a brilliant event for the whole family and with 300,000 expected to attend we want to make sure people can travel safely to the Embankment and Russell Park.

“Our events and transport teams have worked incredibly hard to get all the arrangements in place and I urge anyone who wants to enjoy the River Festival to look at what is on offer and plan your journey in advance.”

Cycle parks

There will be a secure, staffed bike park at each end of the festival site. The areas will be fenced off and a ticket will be issued for each bicycle so you can park up for the day with confidence
