Health and Wellbeing Board

An emergency meeting of Bedford’s Health and Wellbeing Board has been called following the announcement that some ‘doctors in training’ at Bedford Hospitals paediatric service will be removed.

The Bedford Borough Health and Wellbeing Board is the body set up to ensure that local Health and social care partners work together.

At the meeting members of the board will hear from senior managers at the Hospital as well as other health professionals about the current situation and seek clarity on the plans that are being put in place. The hospital is yet to announce the exact impact the withdrawal of doctors will have on levels of care although it has stated that without the doctors it will not be able to provide all paediatric services.

The Board will meet next Thursday, 18th July 2013 at 10.00 am in Committee Room 1 at Borough Hall.

The Hospital has advised the following:

Currently planned paediatric appointments and clinics are going ahead as normal. This includes outpatient clinic appointments and planned procedures or day surgery. Parents, children and young people can call 01234 730500 with queries or concerns about potential service changes. Emergency care is also currently running as normal.
