Keeping Green Spaces Green
Keep our green spaces green this summer!
As the sun shines this summer and everyone
heads outside to find a green space to enjoy in Bedford borough, do
you know how much of your food and drink packaging is
Common picnic items, such as drinks cartons,
punnet trays, plastic wrapping, foil, drinks cans and plastic
drinks bottles are all recyclable, which is great news for anyone
confused about what to do with their rubbish!
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said
“Here in Bedford Borough we are lucky to have many beautiful green
open spaces. This includes four parks which have been awarded the
Green Flag status; which means they are recognised as some of the
best green spaces in the country.
We all enjoy these green spaces, which are
perfect places to sit in the warm weather whilst taking in the
outdoors. Let’s all take pride in where we live and keep it tidy by
taking our rubbish with us when we leave or using the bins provided
to dispose of all rubbish correctly.”
Did you know the following items are easily
recycled in the orange recycling bins?

- Aerosol cans

BBQs is strictly prohibited in all green spaces
and parks in Bedford Borough for safety and environmental

Policy towards environmental crimes, including littering. If you
are seen littering in Bedford Borough you will be issued with an on
the spot fixed penalty notice (FPN) of £75 by an authorised
