Bump Shower

Thursday 3rd June 2010

Are you expecting a baby? If so, it could be worth bearing in mind that from 10am- 12pm on Friday June 4th, Pear Tree Children's Centre, (run by Spurgeons on behalf of Bedford Borough Council) situated on the Balliol Lower School site, is hosting a ‘bump shower’ for expectant parents.

The open day event reaches out to perspective parents, to show exactly what the centre has to offer. On the day, anyone seeking childcare advice and information, or details on how to go back to work upon having the baby, can chat to representatives from Bedford Borough Council’s Family Information Service. There will also be a baby massage presentation and health visitor advice available.

Cllr David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Bedford Borough Council said: “We want people to enjoy the experience of being a new parent as much as possible. It can feel like a challenging time, due to the weight of responsibility, which is why these events are so popular. It is a great way of making future parents aware that there is a whole range of support available to them.”

Parents can take note of how useful the centre will be to them in terms of on-going support, taking into account that the centre also provides sessions where they can weigh the baby, attend a young parents support group and gain guidance on ‘weaning your baby’.

For further information on this event, please contact Jane Smyth, Centre Manager, on 01234 303457.
