Bedford Work Club

Those seeking employment are invited to come along to the ‘Bedford Work Club’ every Tuesday at Bedford Central Library, Harpur Street, from 1.30 – 3.30pm, to gain guidance and support during their search.

Bedford Borough Council is working in partnership with a range of organisations, including eVolve Your Future, Adult and Community Learning, BPHA, Bedford College and the Learning Partnership to introduce the borough’s first ever Work Club sessions.

The sessions will provide a place to meet, exchange skills, share experiences, find opportunities, make contacts, and most importantly, to find job opportunities.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Unemployment can obviously be a tremendously difficult time for people in a range of ways, and the work club will provide a great source of support for residents who need to find work.  It’s important that those faced with unemployment are aware that support exists and that opportunities can be found, and I hope people are able to make good use of these important new sessions.”

The events will also provide free access to the internet, advice on completing application forms and writing covering letters and advice on managing money, volunteering, and much more!

For more information on the Work Clubs, contact either Amy-Jane Cahalane, at Bedford Borough Council, on 01234 276256 or Joanna  Barnett, at ‘eVolve Your Future’, on 01933 358250.

On a similar note, the Council is giving early notice of the Bedford Borough ‘Jobs, Skills & Enterprise Fair,’ which will take place in the Harpur Suite, on Wednesday 27th July 2011, from 11am - 3pm.
