The 'Big Toddle'

The Family Group at Southway Early Childhood Centre are having a sponsored ‘Big Toddle’, at 10.30am, on Friday 24th June starting at the Bandstand, along the Embankment. The expedition will result in a well deserved picnic in Russell Park.

Funds generated on the day will be divided so that 75% will be donated to Barnardo’s, supporting children under five with areas of need, and 25% will go towards the children’s centres ‘family room’, which is run to support local families with young children, particularly in times of crisis.

Cllr Sue Oliver, portfolio holder for Children’s Social Care, at Bedford Borough Council, said: “Children can learn how to have compassion for others through events such as these as they help raise money for a worthy cause together.”

Last year’s ‘toddle’ carried a pirate theme and the event raised almost £300, again for Barnardo’s.

This year’s theme is animals, so prepare for an array of costumes!
