THE ‘HIGH STREET IS’…PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The ‘High Street Is…’ photography competition is running now - until Monday 14th July. It is open to people of all ages and experience. To take part people are asked to take a photo of Bedford’s High Street area, as they see it through their eyes, and submit it to us.

There are four competition categories, with one winner each.

  • Showcase - Photos (or a series of 3 photos) from Bedford’s Big High Street Showcase event on Saturday 14th June 2014
  • My Showcase! (under 14 years of age) - Photos from Bedford’s Big High Street Showcase on 14th June 2014, by all budding photographers
  • Architecture - Photos of Bedford High Street’s distinctive architecture, new or old
  • People/Business/Community - Capture a sense of community on Bedford High Street, its businesses and/or urban portraiture

The Mayor of Bedford Borough Council, Dave Hodgson, said: “Our borough is well-known for its cultural offering, so we have high hopes for some superb shots that will capture our High Street area at its best and most interesting.”

The entries will be judged by a panel of some of Bedford’s finest photographers, including Mick Hutson of Rock City Art, Adrian Bullers of Adrian Bullers Photography and Peter Symonds as President of Bedford Camera Club. The winners will be announced at the end of July.

The winner of each category will receive a prize of £25 worth of Love Bedford vouchers. Winners will also see their photographs on The Bedford Clanger website and displayed in a Town Centre location.

Please Note: Permission to use photos

Bedford Borough Council reserves the right to use and publish all submitted entries, provided that the photographer is credited by name next to their work.
