Fostering Fortnight

WHAT’S YOUR CONNECTION TO FOSTERING?

Bedford Borough Council is in need of individuals that can offer a young person(s) a home within the borough - and as it is Fostering Fortnight, they are inviting everyone to 'make a connection' to fostering to raise awareness and start conversation on the topic.

Cllr Shan Hunt, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Social Care, said: “We desperately need more foster carers. If there are people out there that can see themselves giving a loving home to a young person(s), we want to outline that we will support them every step of the way. Foster care provides children with a safe, secure and nurturing family environment, and allows them to keep in contact with their own families if they wish.”

Throughout Fostering Fortnight there is a programme of events taking place; an art competition for children in care, a picnic in the park for foster carers and the children they care for, as well as a huge social media campaign. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate and thank our fantastic foster carers who are making such a difference to children’s lives.

A stall will be at the High Street Showcase on Saturday 13 June, so people can pop by and have a chat about fostering with representatives from the Council’s fostering team.
