Tree Planting

More than 24,000 Trees within Bedford Borough

Bedford Borough Council planted 133 trees within the borough between 2014 and 2015, bringing the total number of individual trees the Council is responsible for to over a staggering 24,000.

This year’s figures show a growth in the number of trees within the borough, as part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the tree population. The replacement of dead and dying trees is important in ensuring Bedford Borough’s tree population remains disease-free and thriving.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson said “We are proud of Bedford Borough’s many green spaces, parks and highways, and are committed to maintaining them for everyone’s enjoyment.

The wide array of trees in these public spaces are crucial in maintaining an attractive, healthy environment for all, so we are pleased to be maintaining and expanding their number across the borough.”

The whopping 24,000 trees Bedford Borough Council is responsible for in parks, highways and green spaces do not include trees located in woodland areas or private land within the borough.
