EU Vote

Register to Vote for the EU Referendum

Deadline for registration is 7th June

Residents not yet registered to vote are being urged to go online and register their details.

On 23rd June voters across the Borough will be able to go to the polls to vote as part of the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union.

But residents not registered to vote will not be able to exercise their right to have their say.

Philip Simpkins, Local Returning Officer, said: "I'd urge people living across the Borough to register online today to have your say on whether the UK should leave or remain a member of the EU. It only takes a few minutes and avoids the need to complete paper forms."

The deadline for applying to register to vote in the referendum is the 7th June.

Anyone who needs to register should go to www.bedford.gov.uk/register-to-vote today. Those applying will need to enter some basic information, including their date of birth and national insurance number. The process takes less than five minutes.

British, Irish, Commonwealth and EU citizens over 16 can register to vote. However, only Great Britain, Irish and Commonwealth citizens over 18 can vote in the EU referendum.

Residents should also consider whether they will be able to vote in person. Those who will be unable to go to the polling station can apply for a postal or proxy vote.
