Launch of Bedford in Bloom 2010

The multi-award winning team behind Bedford in
Bloom will be going on tour this week, to launch their 2010
Bedford has achieved excellent results in the
RHS Britain in Bloom competition, winning a silver award in 2009.
Entry to the national competition is by invitation only based on
the results of the regional competition, which for Bedford
represents Anglia in Bloom. The town as a whole, as well as
individual wards, have won silver and gold awards plus a number of
special awards over the last two years.
To kick off this year’s campaign and promote
the different parts of the town taking part on Thursday 25th March
from 11.15am, members of the team and ‘In Bloom’ supporters will be
cycling from Priory Country Park to Golden Gardens in Goldington,
finishing up at Mile Road Allotments.
Floral displays play an important part in the
contest, but the "Bloom" title is now, perhaps, misleading: in
recent years the competition has increasingly assessed how everyone
in the local community are involved in looking after their
Bedford joins 65 other cities, towns and
villages from across the UK who have made it through to the 2010
finals, with the award ceremony taking place in
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said:
“In Bloom has been incredibly successful in the last few years not
only because of the prizes we have won but because of the way it
brings communities together.
“The work done by the In Bloom team across
Bedford is something we can all be immensely proud of and I am
looking forward to another year of awards and successes for the
