New Look Library Appears Better Than Ever
3rd March 2010
A new layout design at Putnoe Library in
Bedford has seen staff work tirelessly to prepare for its launch,
and this Friday 5th March at 10 – 11am, there will be a flurry of
interest as Cllr Michael Headley and Cllr Barry Huckle will take
part in a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
A class of children from Putnoe Lower School
will also be present on the day, as the young students will have a
display of work up in the children's library, for all to view. The
libraries I.T section has been reworked in order to develop a more
spacious area to work in; the computers have continued to be an
extremely popular feature amongst visitors.
Jenny Poad, Head of Libraries said: “So many
people walk through our doors, and we want each individual to enjoy
the visiting experience in the physical and visual sense. Of course
people come for the books and information we provide, but we feel
part of our service is to offer a calming atmosphere for customers
to be able to read and concentrate in. This new layout creates the
feeling of much more space. We have a lovely new counter and the
staff worked really hard with both packing and unpacking books and
computers for the library’s big day, so there will be a number of
subtle changes too, that will all add to the overall mood of the
Cllr Barry Huckle commented: "The new layout
design of the library will encourage the residents of
Putnoe to come down and take advantage of the invaluable service
the library has to offer. I would also like
to commend the library staff who have worked tirelessly to
prepare for the launch."
Tea and coffee will be served to all customers
from 10.00am – 11.00am, so whether you want to visit to simply read
a book, pop by to finish your homework, or maybe research your
family tree - it should be a great day to do it!
