Schools Join The Big Tidy Up

Tuesday 9th March

Schools across Bedford are doing their bit for the environment this month by hosting their own Big Tidy Ups.

Pride in Bedford, along with Flynn the Bin Elf, will also be supporting the schools by running special assemblies and lending litter picking equipment.

It’s all part of the national Big Tidy Up Campaign, which includes Bedford Borough Council as one of 11 local authorities who are Champions of the campaign.

In Bedford, 12 schools have signed up to host their own litter picks with the next event taking place at Bedford Road Lower School in Kempston on Thursday 11th March at 10.45am.

The Pride in Bedford team are helping the children to litter pick during the day and encouraging them to join in the main Kempston litter pick this weekend.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Keeping our borough clean and tidy is something we all have to take responsibility for. However, I firmly believe that getting children involved will help to ensure Bedford is clean and tidy in the future as well.

“The children are incredibly enthusiastic and I hope their passion rubs off on others and we can all work together to keep Bedford a clean and green place to live and work.”
