NO SMOKING DAY – THE OUTCOME
For No Smoking Day on 11 March, Bedford
Borough’s Stop Smoking team were out and about, reaching out to
residents with a desire to quit. The team worked collaboratively
with bpha, Tesco (in Riverfield Drive), Bedford Central Library,
Children’s Centres and Bedford Hospital. As a result, a total of 11
people signed up on the day to stop smoking.
Cllr Colleen Atkins, Executive Member for
Adults’ Services and Community Wellbeing at Bedford Borough
Council, said: “People should never give up giving up! We are
always willing to help support individuals who are keen to turn
their back on smoking. It’s never too late to try. Most of us are
now extremely aware of the health risks caused by smoking and this
habit is financially expensive too.”
People are invited to check out Public
Health’s new re-launch of their Smoke Free Bedfordshire website at
Those that sign-up online, will receive a free ‘Quit Kit’.
