COMING TOGETHER TO SHARE ‘BRIGHT’ IDEAS

Bedford Borough Community Safety Partnership’s ‘Bright’ event, on the topic of community safety, took place in the Harpur Suite on Tuesday 14 March.

The event hosted a number of key speakers who took the opportunity to network with the 100 attendees and over 30 local partners and organisations.

Cllr Colleen Atkins, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Regulatory Services, said: “Keeping communities safe and secure requires a partnership approach. The bringing together of professionals to share ideas and knowledge was extremely effective, and will help shape how we can help meet the challenges to improve the lives of the vulnerable people. The speakers gave powerful presentations about current and future projects.”

Presentations at the event included:

  • Mental Health Street Triage        Supporting People in Crisis ‘A Year On’
  • Community Safety Team            Overview of the New Community Safety Plan
  • Bedfordshire Police                     Challenging Hate Crime
  • Bedford Borough Council            Housing and Homelessness
  • Community Safety Team             Street Drinking a Partnership Strategy
  • Kings Arms Project                      Success Stories & Working Together

Cllr Colleen Atkins closed the conference by summing up the themes of the day - partnership, sharing, prevention, communication - and how, by working together, the different organisations are supporting victims and the vulnerable in Bedford Borough.
