Beds Outdoor Adventure

Wednesday 26th  May

The range of activities offered by ‘Bedfordshire Outdoor Adventure’ will be viewed by its guests on 26th May 2010 from 12.30pm, with the programme being officially launched at the Kempston Outdoor Centre at 2pm, by the Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, and Cllr Budge Wells, Assistant Portfolio Holder for Safer Communities and Healthier Lifestyles, at Central Bedfordshire Council.

Bedfordshire Outdoor Adventure is being showcased at the centre, and combines the expertise of the Blue Peris Mountain Centre and Kempston Outdoor Centre to deliver high quality outdoor education, recreation and adventure. Both centres’ promote opportunities to enable people, whatever their age, ability or circumstances to achieve in life. Courses at Bedfordshire Outdoor Adventure are designed to be fun and exciting and to promote the personal development through the adventure experience. They aim to provide opportunities for developing skills that will benefit participants throughout their lives.

Cllr Barry Huckle, Portfolio Holder Arts and Leisure at Bedford Borough Council said: “The programme offers the coming together of the two centres with Kempston Outdoor Centre effectively acting as a ‘window’ to Blue Peris. The activities available aim to help improve self-esteem in young people, and team building experiences for all its participants.”

Since local government reorganisation Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council have worked closely together to improve the Outdoor Education & Adventurous Activity offer to the schools, youth organisations, the community of Bedfordshire and external bodies.
