Cafe for Priory Country Park
Café for Priory Country Park
Bedford Borough Council is inviting tenders to
develop and run a café in the visitors centre at Priory Country
The multiple award-winning country park, which
was awarded Green Flag status for the fourteenth year running last
summer, already provides wonderful facilities for families, dog
walkers, water sports, fishing and nature fans. However, Bedford
Borough Council hopes to go even further and provide refreshments
for those who wish to enjoy the park. Due to a change in
circumstances since the tender was originally awarded, the Council
is inviting businesses to tender again for the opportunity.
Cafes at Russell Park, Bedford Park, Harrold
Odell Country Park and Mowsbury Park have all proved to be
extremely popular and, as will be the case at Priory Country Park,
they have all been opened in previously under-used park
Priory Country Park encompasses a 180 space
car park, adventure play area, picnic sites, kick about area, an
extensive walking network and is home to a vast array of local
wildlife. The park is one of Bedford Borough’s top visitor
destinations, attracting over 320,000 visits each year.
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said
“Following the success of the cafes in several of the Borough’s
parks, we believe a new facility in Priory Country Park would
become a real community hub and make visiting even more enjoyable.
Priory is already a hugely popular park for visitors of all ages,
and a new cafe will only enhance its popularity.”
