Budget Briefing Session

Mayor Invites Businesses to Budget Briefing Session

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, will be hosting a budget briefing session for local businesses on Wednesday 16th November at Borough Hall from 5.00pm – 7.00pm.

The session aims to explain to businesses the Council’s Modernisation Programme and plans for the budget. Businesses will also have the opportunity to talk directly to the Mayor about the plans and the key issues facing the business community.

Bedford Borough Council is facing an unprecedented challenge over the four coming years, as it seeks to make £36million worth of savings in the Modernisation Programme to deliver a balanced budget.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson said: “We boast businesses that would be the envy of any town or borough in the country. Our businesses are the engine room of the Borough’s economy, providing employment in many sectors and generating much of Bedford’s economic output. With this in mind it is clearly essential that the Council works with businesses as we face the unprecedented challenge ahead, in order to help us ensure that we make the right decisions for our Borough and its future.”

If you would like to attend the Mayor’s budget consultation, please contact Justine Ives, Economic Development Manager (Business Support) on 01234 276254 or email Justine.ives@bedford.gov.uk. To view the budget proposals please visit www.bedford.gov.uk/budget2012.
