Report into 21 Allhallows to be heard in private

On Wednesday 9th November, Bedford Borough Council’s Executive will consider a report regarding the possible purchase of land to the rear of 21 Allhallows in Bedford town centre.

This report contains sensitive financial information, not only about the Council but also regarding other commercial businesses and therefore must be considered in private.

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “We have taken steps to make the Council more open and transparent to local residents and have made it clear that on the rare occasions when decisions must be taken in private a full explanation will be given to explain the reasons. In this instance, the report in question includes detailed financial information about a property transaction involving commercial stakeholders and it is therefore necessary to consider this matter in private.

“I would like to reassure local residents we have thoroughly investigated this deal and we are confident that, if approved, it will provide excellent value for local taxpayers.”
