HEALTHWATCH BEDFORD BOROUGH – the new local consumer watchdog for health and social care

Bedford Borough Council has responded to the local community on how Healthwatch Bedford Borough, the new consumer champion for health and social care, should be shaped and structured.

The consultation process ran on future healthwatch arrangements from January - October 2012 and included a number of stakeholder events, surveys, consultation documents and a separate Children’s and Young People’s consultation.

Cllr Colleen Atkins, Executive Member for Adults Services at Bedford Borough Council, said: “The Council has produced a report that sets out the outcome of the consultation, outlining how it intends to respond to the points raised. The plan includes commissioning a solution that builds on the work of Bedford LINk."

Bedford LINk is made up of a network of individuals, community groups and organisations working together to improve the health and social care services in the Borough. The proposed new service continues to harness the skills and enthusiasm of local volunteers.
