Make a Difference Volunteer Week!
To celebrate CSV’s Make a Difference Day- the UK's biggest day
of volunteering- Bedford Borough Council is offering a week of
volunteering opportunities for all ages!
The week long celebration of volunteering includes 13 different
volunteer events that anyone can take part in. These opportunities
range from park conservation tasks to daffodil bulb planting,
painting projects and litter picking and as it takes place during
half term, why not bring the whole family along?
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Volunteering is a
great way to give something back to your local community, learn
valuable new skills, and make new friends.
“Volunteering events in Bedford Borough are always well supported
thanks to the generosity and community spirit of local residents
and I am sure that the events planned for Make a Difference Day
will be well supported.”
Make a Difference day is Saturday 27th October, and Bedford Borough
Council’s Pride in Bedford Team will be helping to launch the week
of events with a litter pick in Wootton. The event runs from
10am-noon and volunteers are asked to meet at the Recreation Ground
car park. All volunteers are asked to make their hairstyle as crazy
as possible with the chance to win prizes.
Equipment is provided at all events and no experience is needed as
officers will be on hand to lead and instruct volunteers. By the
end of the week we hope to have completed 2 painting projects,
undertaken conservation tasks at 2 parks, picked up lots of litter
and planted 5,000 daffodil bulbs!
