Our Stories - Black History Month 2016

 

The Higgins Bedford is working in partnership with local organisations to celebrate Black History Month at a special event this Saturday.

 

Black History Month is a nationwide celebration of Black History, Arts and Culture throughout Britain and has been taking place every in the UK for the past 29 years. 2017 is the 30th anniversary and The Higgins team will be working towards a bigger event to celebrate.

 

Come along and discover more about inspirational black campaigners recognised for their contributions to civil rights and equality; listen to guest speakers tell the stories of their personal journeys and experiences; and enjoy a performances from spoken word artist, Shakii and a section of ‘A Slave’s Song’ by Yaw Asiyama.

 

To whet your appetites, Garfield Robinson of The Voice newspaper will be introducing the Good Food Guide. At lunch there will be the chance to sample Tuck-In’s authentic Caribbean food. 

 

The Our Stories event will take place on Saturday 22nd October between 11am and 4pm. The event is free of charge.
