Goldington Week of Action Launch

Bedford Borough Council, and other partner organisations, such as the Police and Fire and Rescue Service, have invited young residents and students from the surrounding community to add their input into the ‘Goldington Week of Action’.

Bedford Borough Council’s Integrated Youth Support (IYS) Service have supported young people to develop the theme of ‘aspiration’. On Monday 20th September, from 1pm – 2.30pm, at the Church Lane Community Centre, young individuals will showcase their talent, by way of performances in drama, dance, and displays of their artwork.

Cllr David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, at Bedford Borough Council, said: “A range of high profile public events will take place throughout the week. Getting young people involved in launching this event is a great way of drawing attention to the projects objective; to create a safer, healthier and happier environment, so we can all live life to the full.”

The acts performing will be, ‘Duologue’, which is made up  of students from Mark Rutherford Upper School, ‘Dynamix Dance Crew’, who are a street dance/hip hop crew from Bedford, and a carnival dance performance from ‘Utopia Mass’, which is made up of six pupils from St. Thomas More School.  The event will also host displays of artwork from students at Mark Rutherford Upper School, this work will be showcased up to 3.30pm on the day.

Goldington Week of Action, runs from 20th–25th September. Local services (including Bedford Borough Council, Police, Fire and Rescue Service, and other partner organisations) will be involving the whole community in informative and fun activities.
